Supermodel Christy Turlington turns 39-years-old today, and she has two high fashion campaigns to show for it. Famous in the 1990’s as one of the top models in the world, she slowly disappeared from the modeling world, but has recently come back strong in the Spring/Summer campaigns for Escada and Chanel eyewear. She looks like she hasn’t aged a bit! I wonder if we will be seeing her flawless face and perfectly fit body in more upcoming ads.

You know, when people think of lingerie, they immediately think of Victoria’s Secret. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan, but they have done an amazing job at branding with fantastic models, semi-annual sales and getting their name out there. Kudos to their team. However, I do feel like Frederick’s of Hollywood has been in their shadow because of this. In the past, when I was a wee little girl, people would associate Frederick’s with vamp and sex, but if you go to their site today, they have some great pieces at prices at lot more affordable than Victoria’s Secret. As a matter of fact, I bought one of my favorite bras from them in high school on sale for like $15 and it lasted me years. And with their Superstar Sale going on right now, you should really check out their site. Their pieces range from cute and fun, to elegant and alluring. Think along the lines of Dita Von Teese sexy, especially since she was the face of their holiday campaign. And if you don’t own a corset, it’s definitely time to pick one up, especially if you’ve been eating like me during the holidays and have packed on some pounds. They’re fantastic for molding and look so cute I wear them when I go out at night with jeans and a sweater coat.

OK, so everyone’s getting engaged and everyone’s pregnant too. We’ve got Jessica Alba, Lily Allen and Jamie Lynn Spears. Now I don’t have a ring on my finger or a bun in the oven (I’m starting to sound like an old maid aren’t I?), but I can appreciate different styles. And if I were preggers and had some money to spare, I would definitely get one of everything by maternity designer Isabella Oliver. It’s ridiculous how stylish and comfortable her clothing looks. She was even mentioned in the Shopoholic book series! Here are some of my favorite pieces from her current online collection and items are now up to 40% off until January 24th, 2008.

There’s always someone getting engaged. Recently it’s been confirmed that the glamorous Fergie and hottie Josh Duhamel will be walking down the aisle. That’s not all though, cutie Jessica Alba is not only preggers, but now she will be tying the knot with longtime beau Cash Warren. Serena’s mom, Lily van der Woodsen, on Gossip Girl has even been proposed to this holiday season. Looks like all these ladies got some amazing gifts this Christmas. Even though I won’t be getting engaged to anyone soon, it doesn’t mean I can’t browse, does it?

I do. Use make-up as a guard that is. I was catching on my magazine reading and was reading an interesting article in Marie Claire magazine about looking your best after a break-up. It’s showed pictures of Marilyn Monroe, Jennifer Aniston and other starlets looking fan-tabulous after their break-ups. When I am single, I like to look my best in case (as sad as this sounds) I bump into my ex, or in case I see a really hot guy that I want to meet, and a smoky eye and glossy lip helps me bring in more men than I can when I am bare-faced and have a faded pimple on my forehead. I’m actually kind of obsessive about make-up. I can’t even go to the corner deli without painting my face. I knew it was bad when I took out my make-up bag from my large tote and realized that my shoulder wasn’t hurting anymore. Though I do I have to say, after going through the items in it, I haven’t taken anything out. Want to see the products I have to have on me at all times? Well, whether or not you do or don’t here they are.

vaseline1.jpg

OK, so we know lotion is great for moisturizing skin, but did you know that it’s great for hair emergencies? When I was teenager I use to hair model because it was a free cut and dye job. Plus I use to color and cut my hair so much it was worth it. (Blue hair, red, orange, shaved, bobbed, you name it, I’ve probably had it.) Well, I use to do this for a top salon and hair care company and one of the colorists taught me a trick. Lotion or hand cream is great for taming flyaways and styling hair if you are unable to get your hands on products like balms or pomades. Just rub between your hands and style like you usually would. Make sure you just use a little as it can make your hair really greasy if you use too much. I would say less than a dime-sized squeeze. You can even ask my boyfriend, he uses this trick more than I do. When he’s in a rush and forgets his hat, he automatically reach into my bag for my travel sized hand cream to fix his coif. I never leave home without it!

Vaseline, $2.49, at drugstore.com, but you can use any moisturizer.

Cute fashions and a unique name. South Moon Under is a great place to shop with designers like BCBG, Dolce Vita and Emilio Pucci, but they still manage to find under $100 pieces that I wouldn’t expect a site that had high end designers to carry. Plus they carry clothing, accessories, shoes and have a fantastic sale section. Thank you South Moon Under!

I can’t explain why, but I couldn’t help but notice this necklace. I really love the unfinished roughness of the crystal. It reminds me of crystal stones my mother use to buy.

coconut1.jpg

There are some of us that are unable to afford a vacation this holiday season, sadly, I am included in this group. But if I can’t go to the tropics, there is no reason why I can’t bring the tropics me. Shea Terra Organics Organic Cream of Coconut Oil has to be the most natural and best smelling coconut cream I have used so far. When I first got it, I would sit for minutes at a time just sniffing it. As a matter of fact, I’ve barely gone through a quarter of a bottle because a little goes a long way, but I’ve already bought 2 back-up bottles for emergencies. Don’t ask me what a coconut oil emergency is because luckily I haven’t had to face one yet.

So far these are the following uses people have found for this product. Let me know if you find more!

-Body moisturizer to soften skin and smell great.

-Using it as a serum or balm for dry or damaged hair.

-A deep conditioner. Rub all over hair like a hair conditioner rinse out.

-Massage oil

-Some have even said it’s great for removing make-up.

I can’t rave about this product enough. Get it today at sheaterraorganics.com for $11.
